Of concern in the proposed changes is the use of the PRMA guidelines as the standards. This agency relies on research done by the manufacturers of pesticides, rather than independent studies, and is swamped by the the work it is dealing with at this time.

We need to think very seriously about pesticides and the future of this world. The time is NOW. We do not need less control but more if there is any future for our children and grandchildren.
I would encourage the elimination of the public meeting requirement for golf courses. It was and still is a unnecessary practice and a waste of time and resources. Most of us at the meetings spent more time advising the scarce few that attended on how to take care of their lawns at home.

Here are my concerns:
-PMRA uses primarily industry supplied testing to make decision
PMRA is greatly backlogged at present. By federal law, all pesticides are supposed to be re-evaluated every 15 years. The PMRA cannot possibly do this, and they have admitted this.

Please keep the pesticide ban for cosmetic purposes. It should actually include "round-up" as well, for there is virtually no poison ivy in urban areas, and that was the reason it was left on the shelves.

I support the continued existence and authority of the OPAC . One "Director" is not capable of deciding which pesticides should be added to the cosmetic ban list. Industry supplied testing is not an acceptable standard for decision-making about environmental and health issues.

I urge you to maintain the current committee and rules regarding pesticides. In particular al neonicinoides absolutely need to be totally banned , now, not in a few years, but right now. Also 2-4d should not be allowed to be used on lawns.

ALL neonictinoid tracking (of seed sales, of independent assessment of need, and of use) should remain in place. Three of the most dangerous neonics have now been slated for removal (experts have called for IMMEDIATE removal- the worst one, Imidacloprid, won't come off until 2021.

The new regulation combines Class 2, 3 and 4 but enforces training and certification on farmers that was not required previously in the existing regulation.

The ipm info for golf courses is readily at hand for anybody to see. Since the inception of ipm annual meetings, we have had 3 guests attend 2 of our meetings. These guests were not even concerned about pesticide use, but more concerned about infrastructure and construction.
