Ground water is a precious resource. It must be made available for communities and cities to provide an adequate supply of safe drinking water to its residents. I understand there is a need for bottled water (e.g.

This proposal is a great plan and way to protect our water. I fully support it.
No new permits should be permitted and the fact that some businesses are taking more than their permit allows is an abuse of the system that is in place.
Water is a necessity for life and must not be a commodity.
The climate crisis and disruption will stress water availability for living creatures, food supplies, agriculture, and ecological systems. We must prepare for these challenges.

As a citizen and tax payer of Ontario, I would like to applaud the extension of the moratorium on new or increasing permits to take groundwater to produce bottled water for 9 months, ending October 1, 2020.

I completely support the proposal to extend the water permit moratorium. Water is key to our survival. Please protect our water for our citizens before you think about selling such a precious resource to large companies for profit.
It is critical to prioritize our water for local public use, and I am strongly in support of extending the moratorium on new and expanded permits to take water for bottling.

For the love of all, please extend this moratorium, indefinitely. We should not allow companies to take our water, then sell it back to us at a huge mark up.

Please extend the current moratorium on water bottling permits. It is a first step in the right direction. Companies should no longer be allowed to participate in water taking practices for the purpose of selling bottled water.

It’s great that the moratorium is being extended. However, as a resident of Centre Wellington there is no need for further work on your part. Our communities are at risk as far as provincially mandated growth vis-a-vis ground water supply.

Nestle is taking almost 5 million litres a day which sells for $.25 a litre at grocery stores on sale (Sobeys 24x 500ml for $2.99).
That works out to $1,250,000 in retail sales PER DAY.

I support the proposal to extend the moratorium but would like to add that it should be for four years instead of nine months. Also why is the water taking permit $500 per million litres of water under Ontario Regulation 176/17.

Well done on creating a moratorium! Stop nestle from selling guelphs water for pennies on the dollar!if its good for the economy, they can pay their fair share, and if not, they can take their wasteful, polluting and harmful business elsewhere!

This proposal on the moratorium is a start in the right direction, however, Nestle's proposed operations at Middlebrook are a major concern for residents of our township. We need a more responsible water policy for the sake of protecting groundwater for future generations.

Our Ontario water is precious and we should not take it for granted.
Nestle extracts unreasonably large amounts of water and there is no way to know exactly how this might disturb the delicate balance of our underground ecosystems.

Thank you for extending the moratorium on water bottling permits! We live in a time of climate catastrophe and we need to keep our water in the ground for the people of Canada. Not selling it off to big corporations.
Thank you for maintaining this moratorium until Oct 2020. When considering the more definitive policy going forward from that October 2020 date, note that:
1. Water bottlers are taking a valuable resource that is owned by the people of Ontario

Make this moratorium permanent! Why only 9 months? The problem is not going away. Our water will still be as valuable, scarce, and necessary then, as it is now.
No bottled water taking for profit!!
I support extending the moratorium on water bottling permits. I support investment into personal filtration devices. I support giving the rights to local, clean water sources back to the Canadian people.
