I don't understand why hunters can't wait till Fall in order to eliminate the possibility of killing a nursing mother. Please don't reinstate the spring hunt.
The spring black bear hunt should not be reinstated. It jeopardizes mothers with cubs due to the shoot first ask questions later reality of hunting and it is an unnecessary destruction of the life with which we share this planet.

I completely agree with the re introduction of the spring bear hunt. Mnrf must manage the population properly this time. Hunters must strive to only shoot boars, and strive to know the most up to date information on identifying bears by sex and age as they approach the bait.

Do not reopen the bear hunt. This is unnecessary, cruel, prohibitive to good biodiversity, and may leave cubs orphaned, further destroying the population.
There is no ethical reason for the spring bear hunt. And compounding this cruel act of immorality is the killing of nursing mother bears. There should be a national moratorium on sport hunting period!!!
The decision to reinstate a spring black bear hunt in Ontario - which despite the ban, often causes the deaths of mother bears and orphans cubs.

Any policy related to resource use needs to be consulted on by Indigenous peoples. This is especially true for the bear hunt, which is a culturally important species. There is no scientific evidence to support the reopening of the bear hunt but there is evidence to keep it closed.

There is no need for a springtime black bear hunt. Hunting in the spring leaves black bears cubs orphaned. All species should be protected, especially during critical stages of development and activity, such as rearing young.
Hello, I am VERY concerned about the possible reinstatement of a spring bear hunt I worry that female bears with cubs will be killed thus orphaning young bears unable to survive on their own. I think this would be a horrendous set back to the population of bears in Ontario.
