Compared to numbers prior to colonization, black bear numbers are in a dire state. I think it's important to consider a non-anthropocentric viewpoint on populations as they are constantly living in threatened situations as humans take up more and more land with industry and urbanization. Read more

I am a trapper in the province and the return of the spring bear hunt is a positive move for resource management I travel all over the northeast and see bears through out the entire spring summer and fall. I believe this will only help outfitters. Read more

I am against the provisions in the Proposed Changes to Black Bear Hunting Regulations requiring non-resident landowners to used a licensed guide to hunt black bears. I am a Canadian Citizen and landowner in the Town of Bruce Mines. Read more

Bear numbers are too high and they compete with threatened and endangered species for habitat and for food. Responsible bear hunting will address this problem and help sustain healthy wildlife populations. Additional hunting discourages bear-human contact as bears will learn to avoid people. Read more

There if absolutely no evidence that this project is reaching it's goals as there appears to be insufficient data to support it. Although hunters are prohibited from shooting mothers with cubs, how is it possible to ensure that will not kill a mother who is separated from her cubs? Read more
