If this proposal comes to fruition it will in turn encourage more Ontarians who are interested in the art of falconry to seek out sponsors and complete their apprenticeship thus creating more responsible and educated falconers in the long run. Read more

I am glad to see this proposal. I know that the OHC has been very diligent in working with the northern goshawk and there will be no impact on taking 5 of these birds annually. In fact in the future if anything it should have a positive impact on the population. Read more

I believe that if I would be able to trap my own raptor instead of having to purchase one, then not only would it be a very educational experience, but also a responsibility building experience. Anyone can purchase a bird, it takes a lot of commitment, effort and knowledge to go get your own

I have been a falconer for over 40 years. I have spent many years enjoying my time spent outdoors in the fall and winters flying my falcons. I contributed my time and energy to the re-establishment of the Peregrine Falcon. Read more

Just because an activity has been going on for a long time doesn't mean it is ethical or moral. Birds are stolen from their homes and families to be forced to hunt down other animals. They are not companions, they are slaves. Read more

I am happy to see this proposal. Eliminating the draw is a huge improvement. I come from a state that enables all apprentice falconers to be able to trap their first bird of prey and it works wonderfully here. Falconry is a big commitment and I require my apprentice to trap a wild take Passage. Read more

I am an active falconer in Ontario and I support this proposal because falconers have played an important role in raptor conservation, and by allowing more falconers to have access to wild birds, the MNRF is encouraging more active conservation. Read more

Considering the high percentage of mortality durring the first winter of a red tail or goshawks life , allowing wild take ensures these birds survival durring this period in captivity. They can be released the following spring better prepared to face the next winter period.
