The following quote is from your Regulatory Impact Statement:
“The anticipated social benefits are positive as it would support a traditional, recreational, and sustainable use of Ontario's wildlife consistent with hunting heritage traditions.“
I would only point out that THERE IS NO HUNTING HERITAGE TRADITION using birds of prey in Ontario or anywhere else in Canada for that matter. In Canada, this is a recent hobby pursued on the backs of kidnapped wildlife. In addition to robbing wild animals of their freedom, if you think many animals are not traumatized, injured and killed in the capture and “training” process you are mistaken. If you think there is not sale of captured animals, again, you are mistaken.
The decent thing to do in the 21st century is grandfather this practice and concentrate your resources on catching poachers.
