Why on earth would every effort not be made to remove species vs kill. For example, Hamilton's Royal Botanical Gardens has a program to save Blanding's turtles. They coulc safely remove these poor creatures and bring them to a safe, new home. Read more

I do not support the Government of Ontario's new proposal to to create the Species at Risk Conservation Trust. This new regulatory mechanism is effectively a "pay-to-kill" option for developers to proceed with harmful actions without meaningful compensation. Read more

As a voting member of the Ontario constituency, I do not support ERO 019-2636 (species at risk conservation fund). This fund jeopardizes our rights as Canadians to have a healthy and sustainable environment by putting the interests of businesses and development before species. Read more

I am very much opposed to the government’s plan to proceed with implementing the Species at Risk Conservation Fund (and the agency that would run it, the Species at Risk Conservation Trust). Read more

Please protect the environment instead of focusing on money. Don’t allow these natural areas and species to be destroyed. We can’t get them back. If you don’t care for the environment yourself, that is fine, but think of your grand children and the loss it will be to them. It is such a loss. Read more

In 1971, Ontario passed an Endangered Species Act (ESA) that was considered one of the best of its kind in Canada. Since then, further legislation has weakened the ESA, but recent proposed changes by the current Ontario government will weaken the ESA far too much. Read more

This seems to be a streamline path to habitat destruction which does not enable the protection of species no matter what kind of offsets can be generated with funds. Many habitats such as wetlands develop specific conditions over thousands of years. Read more

I don't support the government's plan to proceed with implementing the Government of Ontario's Species at Risk Conservation Fund, because it will lead to an increase in habitat loss and degradation, a primary threat to most of the funds species. Read more

My concern is that the underpinning of this decision sits on a complete lack of understanding of ecosystems in particular and science in general. Money is not the pinnacle of civilization... living on a healthy sustainable planet is the goal. Please do not do this. Read more

I see a major problem with this proposed Fund in that, while it is packaged as being for the benefit of wildlife, it is premised on the destruction of crucial habitat that species at risk depend upon for survival. Read more
