It's about time the CA's were instructed to get back to their mandate of controlling and managing public property and their respective watersheds. I have had two run ins with them and have been threatened with fines and jail sentences. Read more

These regulations seem to be based on the premise that it is necessary to build near or encroach upon wetlands as currently defined and other environmentally sensitive areas and protected areas in order to provide housing. This is simply not the case. Read more

Conservation Authorities have the expertise to ensure that hazardlands are not built upon for economic and environmental and public safety reasons. However it is also important that they continue to play a role in ensuring that natural heritage lands are retained within developments. Read more

Nothing in the opening statement above of Bill 23 is wrong. It is what is missing that is the problem. Building up and not out, means putting large commercial parking lots under buildings not beside them. Read more

The PPS does not prohibit Drainage Act works in PSWs. The DART protocol is a piece of junk. Rural farmers struggle with the cost of drainage works where the Conservation Authorities will not permit the work to proceed without expensive studies and lawsuits. Read more

Re: Proposed Natural Hazards Regulatory Changes ERO Notice/019-2927 This proposal, if implemented, would significantly weaken the definition of wetlands. There are many wetland areas in Ontario that would be excluded from control under the proposed legislation. Read more

A strong conservation authority is incredibly important for keeping governments from making changes that will have long term costs and consequences to future generations, such as Bill 23. Corruption in governments is common - we need strong protection against it. Read more
