A strong conservation authority is incredibly important for keeping governments from making changes that will have long term costs and consequences to future generations, such as Bill 23. Corruption in governments is common - we need strong protection against it. These changes are dangerous because they make less protections for land and waterways. Changing definitions without the support of evidence is dangerous. Depressions in land is still a waterway because the water sinks through the land and into the water systems - this is one example of a dangerous change that will have flooding consequences. And when you talk of streamlining for developers at the expense of conservation rulings, it is terrifying. Developers are motivated for short-term profit. They will build for high-cost housing and not solve the housing issue. They will build for sprawl not up. We need to use the land we have and tax out of existence large homes that consume energy and reduce housing space and use that tax and land to build smaller affordable units and up not out.
