This is unnecessary in 2023. It does not reflect what we now know to be true about animal sentience and behaviour. Doing the same thing when we know better is not how we advance as a community. Read more

I cannot state more emphatically how opposed I am to this change in legislation. To cage wild animals with no means of escape and expose them to mutilation and certain death just for the hobby of training dogs is nothing short of cruel and barbaric. Read more

I am wholeheartedly against the cruelty to animals that this allows. Do not proceed. Training dogs to hunt is not needed and not giving the prey a fighting chance by fencing them up is beyond disgusting. I'm begging you to please get rid of these areas completely. Read more

Please stop the barbaric practice of allowing trailing and training compounds. It is cruel and unnecessary in these times. There are enough aggressive dogs living among us and this just encourages people to keep them. There is nothing sporting about this.

It’s abhorrent that penned animals are being used to train hunting dogs especially in this day and age. It’s a controversial unnecessary so called recreational activity that serves no purpose. Read more

This is not acceptable nowadays. Hunting is so last century! When I moved to Canada I thought that this country was a good one. Please, be good to all beings and respect not making them suffer. NO to this cruel practice!

The hunting of wildlife in penned cages is an absolutely barbaric practice that must come to an end. The province was absolutely on the right track phasing out this type of animal cruelty and we cannot open the door to allowing more of these facilities to operate. Read more

I think this is barbaric! Knowing how cruel some people can be, I can’t see a good end for the wildlife! Tearing them from their natural habitat for what amounts to sport, is inhumane! It makes me sick to think about it!

Trapping wild animals to train hunting dogs is cruel. That is the simplest way to describe this practice. The law was changed in 1997 because it was acknowledged that it was a barbaric, inhumane thing to do and by issuing licenses, the province was condoning being cruel to animals. Read more

Hello, I would like to STRONGLY condemn the Ford government on this proposal. This is simply another example of Mr Ford’s blatant disregard for trying to improve Ontario and the fellow citizens and other occupants (i.e., wildlife) of this province. Read more

This is absolutely disgusting and inhumane. Hunting should not even be a thing but anyhow this is NOT the way to train. You’re sentencing innocent animals to their death in the most cruel way at the expense of what? Training?? Pure idiocy of an idea.
