This is good idea as a first step towards compliance with mandatory reporting. But DO NOT remove the ability for Conservation Officers to lay charges on those who continue to fail to report or those who falsely report. Keep a tiered progressive approach towards compliance.

There should be a "graduated system" where there is a financial penalty for the first offense, (relatively small - in the $20-30 range - an educational opportunity) double that amount ($40-60) for the second offence. Read more

This is a joke, we’re being forced to do the Ministry’s job and having it shoved down our throat. This started when the Liberals first gained power and has gotten progressively worse. Most hunters that I know already begrudgingly filled out these reports for fear of losing hunting privileges. Read more

I understand the importance of the data, but at one time this information was captured, reviewed, and planned by people in the field with a biology/wildlife/forestry background. I am not sure I agree a fee is the best method to encourage lawful hunting or get more people into the woods. Read more

I support the proposal. Hunter reporting is critical to sound wildlife management and every tool to get hunters to comply should be utilized. As a first step a small administrative penalty of $20.00 to $30.00 added to the cost of the next licence is appropriate. Read more
