Q3: Reuse and save! I admire the work done in my city (Hamilton) to upgrade seventies-era towers. See example: https://www.eraarch.ca/project/ken-soble-tower-transformation/ These buildings are well-constructed, and it makes sense to renew them rather than tear down. Read more

Affordable housing needs to consider poor people as well as those able to afford market rates. It also needs to consider the needs of renters, whether they are renting temporarily or will never own real estate. Co-ops, affordable housing, housing-geared-to-income are all important components. Affordable housing can mean so many things. What is affordable to one, is not to another. Home ownership does not need to be the norm. It is only since World War II that home ownership of single detached houses for 1 family was advertised as the goal instead of just an option. Read more

I fully support getting more middle housing. Letting people of different income levels live in the same area is important for ensuring equality. Otherwise, people get isolated into their own socioeconomic bubble, including children who attend schools based on their neighbourhood. Read more
