The application to amend the existing ECA (waste disposal site) No. 8208-BR2R5M for the use and operation of waste disposal site with a total site area of 2,650 square metres, located at 374 Crawford Street in South Porcupine, Ontario, District of Cochrane has been granted.
The function of the Site is to receive, process (mix, consolidate and solidify) and transfer liquid non-hazardous waste, hazardous and non-hazardous wastes to other MECP approved recycling/disposal facilities. Wastes will be collected from industrial and commercial clients throughout Ontario and Quebec.
The amended site approval includes an 80 square metres sludge containment and processing system, with a maximum capacity of 40 tonnes, consisting of two dewatering/mixing bins in a concrete or asphalt pad with containment curbs to allow unload both bulk, and small containers (drums, totes, pails) of non-hazardous sludge, and solid material for the purpose of mixing with solidification materials (sawdust, polymers, peat moss and other absorbents) before final disposal at MECP approved disposal facilities.
The facility may receive, ship, and process waste 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
