HFI Pyrotechnics Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for the renewal of the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) for HFI Pyrotechnics Inc., a pyrotechnic manufacturer and fireworks distribution facility, located at 3322 Hands Road, in Prescott, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include exhaust systems used for scavenging solvents, exhaust systems used as general removal of dust and fumes from the manufacturing process, test trailer for trip flare light output testing and laboratory fume hood; operating with a facility production limit of 1,140,000 units of pyrotechnic compositions.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• sodium monoxide
• microcrystalline wax
• phosphorus pentoxide
• total particulate matter
• nitrogen oxides and other products of combustion

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air).

The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
