Proposal details

Official Plan Amendment 8 was adopted by the County of Simcoe on February 13, 2024, by By-law No. 7053-24. The Ministry will review all feedback received before presenting any potential modifications to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with sections 17 and 21 of the Planning Act.

Official Plan Amendment 8 proposes to re-designate the subject lands from “Agricultural” to “Settlements” on Schedule 5.1: Land Use Designations of the County’s Official Plan. The effect of the amendment would result in a minor expansion to the Guthrie settlement area in the Township of Oro-Medonte to include the subject lands.

The subject lands are approximately 6.57 hectares and are legally described as Concession 5, Part Lot 20 (Oro), Township of Oro-Medonte, Part 4, Reference Plan 51R-33531. See the location map for reference.

Other Information

Associated local Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law amendment and draft plan of subdivision applications have also been submitted to the Township of Oro-Medonte.  The purpose of these planning applications (including Official Plan Amendment 8) is to facilitate a future development block and subdivision of 16 single detached residential lots.

The Township of Oro-Medonte and the County of Simcoe held a joint statutory public meeting regarding these planning applications and Official Plan Amendment No. 8 on May 3, 2023.
