R. W. Tomlinson Limited - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) for R. W. Tomlinson Limited, a sustainable asphalt production plant, located in the City of Ottawa, Ontario.

The application is for a pilot project that aims to significantly diminish the carbon intensity of the energy utilized in asphalt production. The application includes all emission sources from the facility that exhaust to the atmosphere, including:

• an asphalt research plant,
• pyrolysis system with recovered biomass to off-set natural gas demand for the asphalt drum dryer, and
• assembly production processes and operations

Contaminant emissions to the atmosphere include:

• crystalline silica,
• benzene,
• benzo(a)pyrene,
• calcium hydroxide,
• nitrogen oxides,
• nickel, and
• particulate matter
