Feedback from phase 1 consultation on growing the Greenbelt including a Paris Galt Moraine study area and ideas for adding Urban River Valleys was considered. On March 24, 2022, Phase 2 consultation was launched on proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan and Greenbelt Area boundary regulation to add 13 new and expanded Urban River Valleys.

We have created Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park through an amendment to O. Reg. 316/07 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. This will strengthen the long-term protection of biodiversity and important habitats within the park while providing opportunities for visitors to enjoy the area’s natural beauty.

We have completed our public consultation on the plain language regulatory proposal relating to excess soil management.

Amendments have been made to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act, through Bill 91, to create an authorization process for special projects to test or demonstrate new activities, including carbon storage, and to enhance measures to safeguard people and the environment. Bill 91 received royal assent on June 8, 2023.

We are modernizing our environmental assessment (EA) program to better serve communities now and in the future. Comments received on the discussion paper have been and will continue to be considered when making decisions on EA modernization initiatives.

An Environmental Compliance Approval (waste site) 19-NOR-97288 for Northern Disposal and Sanitation was issued on March 11, 2020 for a hauled sewage site in Emsdale, within the Township of Perry.

The Highway 413 Act, 2024, received Royal Assent on November 25, 2024. The Act allows the proposed Highway 413 project, a provincial priority highway project, to be built in a more efficient and timely manner, while maintaining appropriate environmental protection.
