We are proposing to remove the need for certain types of dams to obtain a permit to take water. The construction and alteration of dams will continue to be regulated under existing provincial regulatory requirements and approval processes so that we can continue to protect lakes, rivers and waterways in Ontario.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007, allowing the City of London to translocate Kentucky Coffee-trees to allow for the rebuild of the Springbank Reservoir.
The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.
We have amended the Municipal Class Environment Assessment to better align assessment requirements with potential environmental impacts, including conditional exemptions for certain low-risk projects. This posting provides information on those changes and brings those changes into effect.
We are delivering on our Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan commitment to hold polluters accountable by expanding the use of administrative monetary penalties and modernizing the process to seize vehicle permits and plates. Once implemented, these changes will strengthen our enforcement tools to ensure compliance with environmental laws.
