Section 172 of the Environmental Protection Act, which grants powers to investigate and establish a Board of Negotiation to consider complaints of economic damage caused by contamination to livestock, crops, trees or other vegetation, has been repealed to address overlap with existing investigative powers and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
The minister has approved updates to the assessment reports and source protection plans for the Trent Conservation Coalition Source Protection Region to comply with a Minister’s order issued on May 21, 2019.

The new permit expires on May 1, 2033. Water will be taken from Lake Ontario to allow the company to undertake hydrostatic testing of storage tanks.
