Please make available to the public reference to the peer-reviewed research that the proposed amendment is based on (as you mention "research". Science should be the basis for such technical specification changes. Also transparency of government decision-making is very important to coitizens.
Further, as I understand it, the relaxing cable restraint is not included in the International Agreement on Humane Trapping Practices to which Canada is a party. Please consider Canada's legal obligations and animal welfare science and ensure Ontario follows same.
