The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) has reviewed ERO 019-8071 and would like to express our support for the proposed changes to Ontario Regulation 667/98 (Trapping) made under Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997.
The proposed amendments, which include increasing the breakaway device weight rating and reducing the size of deer stop loops on relaxing cable restraints, promise to help in avoiding both animal loss and fur damage. From our perspective, they do not present a sustainability risk and will result in more ethical take of furbearing animals.
