Regarding changes to North east corner of Decou Road.
As of now we have Sky subdivision with 55 two story homes; I talked to building contractor and he told me 4 units are personally owned , two for sale and the rest are investor owned and rented out; one unit has 17 people living there . Contractor told me Starting next week work to start on 85 town houses at south end of Sky subdivision I understand they are starting to build at south end of sky subdivision.
At east/ north corner Of Decou and Ireland Rd. they plan to build 300 Units there.
Now new plan to build another 44 apartment with commercial space on North East corner of HWY# 24 and Decou road. That corner now is very unsafe for turning traffic. They would have to widen the corner but there is no room; an accident happens at least once a month now and will increase with build up.
I don't know if a study has ever been done on the impact that will have on Decou Road. It definately will be a dangerous and congested area.
There are no sidewalks as people from subdivision walk and bike every day to Fanshaw collage. The roads are not wide enough for widening for increase traffic and walkers etc.
Originally they were going to put storm drain down south side and fill in ditch and maybe sidewalks there. I talked to ALMAS Contractor and was told the storm drain is going down center of the road.
I Think a major study should be done on impact of traffic on Decou Road.
When sky subdivision was built they never used and local sub trades all sub trades and labour force were from out of town so local sub trades etc were used to build housing.
