I agree with this proposal.
As a home owner with a viable lot to build an ARU, I would not at this point move forward with constructing one due to the extreme limitations that my municipality places on it via zoning. (City of Toronto)
This is the case because building is not purely scalable with a cost per sqft incursion. There are startup costs, for example, running an electrical like is the same cost regardless of the usable space of an ARU.
In otherwords, with the current restrictions imposed, building an ARU isn't worth the money for the amount of usable living space I could get.
The proposed amendment would allow me to build a more functional ARU that would be more cost efficient to me, and allow me consider building one.
