This proposal is an overstep of provincial powers, municipalities know their cities best and can make effective city planning decisions on bike lanes. Removing existing bike lanes would only cause more construction impacting traffic. All available evidence shows that to reduce car congestion we need to provide people with alternative modes of transportation including bike lanes. Bike lanes reduce congestion, promote physical activity, reduce injuries/fatalities, boost local businesses and improve EMS response times. I strongly urge the province make evidence informed policy decisions rather than value-based judgements.
