I am disappointed by the government's proposal to repeal the existing climate change act. Climate change is an undeniable scientific fact and its consequences are felt daily in our country, from raging wildfires to unprecedented heat waves. Surely it cannot make good economic sense to invest in non-renewable energy sources that do not have an unending supply. Instead, we need to invest in the economic future of renewable and sustainable energy sources. The time to act is now and the time to take a leadership role, as modeled by the government of Denmark, is now. This should not be a means of establishing political clout. Climate change is not a political issue. It is a scientific issue and an issue that will imminently face ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. Please do the right thing.
