The Cap and Trade Act should not under any circumstances be repealed. The Act must be upheld in the best interests of all Ontarians and their future. The extreme costs associated with providing compensation to those who would be adversely affected by passage of Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act 2018 would be far better invested in transitioning Ontario to a safe , green renewable energy path. This transition would create well paying jobs and contribute to building Ontario's economy in a positive and sustainable way. The government needs to be proactive in addressing climate change and both promoting and facilitating the transition to safe, green, renewable energy sources and promoting and funding energy conservation measures. Cancelling the Cap and Trade Act is both short sighted and a highly costly waste of Ontario taxpayers hard earned tax dollars and will set Ontario way back in terms of building a bright, safe , secure and prosperous sustainable future.
