Deeply shortsighted. I live in Waterloo, ON and sometimes visit Toronto with my bike. As a grad student, I get around everywhere with my bike - I commute to work/campus, I bike to the grocery store and bring my weekly groceries home in my basket, etc. If major bike lanes were removed here in Waterloo I would have to resort to walking or taking public transit, both of which take so much longer than biking. Taking out bike lanes is impinging on people's freedom to choose how they travel within the city.
