Groundwater is not an infinite resource. There are limits as to how much of it is available for human consumption. A good step forward would be to ascertain how much groundwater is available and the rate of replenishment. This would allow more informed discussions and decision-making in future.
Water is necessary to life and, therefore, should be carefully husbanded and steps taken to ensure it is available to all for their survival (including non-human lifeforms), and not just the few people who use it for profit only.
