It is time to stop Nestle, a Swiss based mega-corporation, from drawing great profit from a natural resource that Ontarians should manage and directly profit from with good stewardship. It is time to establish an Ontario Water Corporation to develop and oversee the extraction of potable water for sale and distribution in Ontario. Its primary mandate, as a wholesaler, would be to ensure residents have the option to purchase the Ontario brand from provincial retailers of food and beverage. Just like lottery profits we should create and retain Ontario-sourced water profits---but in this case it would be a real public good and benefit all citizens. We don't need a Swiss organization to extract, promote, and sell us the water under our feet---if they want to compete with water from the Alps, then game on.
