I support extending the moratorium, that's a no brainer. Whenever the government figures out how it wants to proceed, it needs to set extraction rates that aren't laughable. The former government applauded a significant jump in fees from $3.71 to $503.71. It looked sensible on paper until you realized that was $0.0005 per litre, or $0.00025 per 500ml bottle. That's not something to have boasted about. That continues to be a national embarrassment where you're handing over our resources to private companies to profit from unfettered. The bottling fee should be at least a third or quarter or fifth of what they charge. We can't keep giving away water for free.
