The moose draw as it is set up presently does not seem to be process for effectively increasing the moose herd in Ontario. Changing the system to allow for unclaimed tags to be put back into play will also decrease the population of the herd. The number of tags available in each WMU is a direct impact on moose numbers. Perhaps more or better science is needed to understand real wildlife population impacts, both positively and negatively? The old draw system worked, just because there are new players in the different departments of the government does not mean the policy has to change to show work is being done or that someone is putting their special twist on things. Being a politician or a bureaucrat should not be to leave a legacy. If it was not a broken system why try to fix it.
