Hi. I’m a first year university student I believe that the only time the using bottle water is the best option for us is in the case of a water crisis where some form of biological or chemical contaminant is in the public water system or a public water system is not accessible. In my opinion, there is not other reason to use bottled water as it is 3 times as environmentally damaging compared to tap water and in Canada the recovery rate for plastic water bottles is under 20% which is completely unsustainable. I think a moratorium is a good first step (please keep it) but honestly this province should have much more detailed policy around bottles water with the goal of minimizing the plastic production and waste.
