Good morning,
I have read the proposed changes to the moose tag allocation process. while I agree on the changes, which may make things better, I still see existing flaws within the process. Hunters in Ontario accumulate points for years and years in order to hunt a moose, some WMU's may only require 4 or 5 points to get a tag, some WMU's may require 24 points or more. If a hater applies in a WMU that only requires 5 points and the Hunter has accumulated 20 plus points, that hunter looses all their points. My question/comment on this process is flawed. Why wouldn't the MNR only take the 5 points and leave the remaining points so the hunter can apply again and insure that a tag is used, instead the MNR sets that hunters points to zero. If you are a hunter who is in their middle to late sixties, it becomes very hard to get another tag, yet another flaw that has been introduced by the points based system. In my opinion the system needs a complete overhaul again, not just new adjustments that force change to a system that is already poorly accepted in Ontario. In-depth analysis of the process is required, I have 40 years under my belt as a Business Analyst and can see work needs to be done to provide a better tag allocation process. Kind Regards
