Cancelling a wind energy project that was practically complete would amount to nothing more or less than vandalism. The province would end up paying for this project, only to shut it down and dismantle it. This would be equivalent to the Liberals' gas-plant scandal: transparently spending a public fortune purely for political gain.

Ontario needs more clean generation, less gas and nuclear. With energy storage technologies getting cheaper and more available every year, the value of renewable generation capacity only increases. A prosperous future for our province lies with renewable energy, not with dangerous and expensive nuclear, and not with polluting gas plants.

A few weeks ago, I was driving through Shelburne, ON, where a lot of wind turbines are situated. These gentle giants are beautiful. Curious, I turned onto a side road and parked about 100m away from a row of operating turbines. I stood by the edge of the field and listened. I could hear absolutely no sound from the massive turning blades. It's kind-of marvelous that something so enormous can spin with no noise at all. I would gladly host one in my back yard if I could.
