I do not think anybody in Ontario does not believe that we should not develop new sources of energy to counteract use of fossil fuels. Wind energy appears to be a viable alternative to fossil fuels however the revenue that was contracted for these form of energy was exorbitant relative to what consumers are paying for the electricity that we use. Notwithstanding that, the company that constructed the White Pines did so in good faith and the project is ready to produce energy. The decision to now cancel the project which will cost the province excessive breakage fees seems to be counterproductive. Rather than cancel the contract and dismantle White Pines, we should look at a renegotiation with the company to step down the revenue paid for the energy over a fixed term that would bring the revenue paid to the company more in line with what consumers are paying.
