The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change recently published a damning report on our lack of progress toward mitigating climate change and keeping the increase in the temperature of our planet to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Green energy projects including wind, solar, hydro electric, and nuclear MUST play a significant role in how we move forward towards this goal. The White Pines Wind Project is part of the solution to the climate change issue we are facing! It has become clear to many Ontarians that the provincial government's reason for wishing to shut down the project is because of NIMBYism and the wish of the local Conservative MPP to placate his supporters and protect his seat. Such politicizing of this and other green projects is unconscionable! In the present absence of any clear plan by the current provincial government to act responsibly to help mitigate climate change, maintaining the White Pines Wind Project would send a message that they do recognize the pressing issue of climate change and perhaps there is some hope that they might wake up, smell the carbon dioxide, and do something positive.
