This proposal is very vague and provides very little information. The Ontario public deserve more information, and based on what I’ve heard of this plan to move sewage pipes away from the proposed development site of Ontario Place and to dump raw sewage in Lake Ontario is horrendous. I am opposed to this plan, which goes against decades of work by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers to prevent raw sewage from leaking into Lake Ontario. It flies in the face of our international agreements to protect the water quality and habitats of the Great Lakes. This proposal also risks human health in terms of water quality at beaches, fishing, and the quality of the lake as an attraction for both Canadian and international visitors.

This proposal only benefits private sector initiatives, isn’t in the public interest and it threatens the stability of the lake’s ecosystem at a time of severe biodiversity loss and climate change. We have a chance of making positive changes that would maintain and improve the environment for future generations and we should act now.

Reject this proposal and act in the best interests of the public interest for the present moment and future generations.
