The proposal is to cut a combined sewage outlet pipe so that it empties into the west gap instead of further into the lake, effectively eliminating safe usage of shoreline, for a longer duration than the multiple days following each of the typical 42 CSO events per year, due to the accumulating sanitary sewage in the west gap.
A firm timeline and process to rectify and eliminate the proposed work, and implement an ultimate piping solution, is not available.
The ultimate solution needs to be implemented, instead of the interim work to be in place for an unknown multi-year duration.
The short CSO public process followed by immediate contractor mobilization to implement the solution, does not meet the intentions of the public process.
