I strongly object to the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place) for the following reasons:

1. It contravenes international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the Great Lakes.

2. It is contrary to decades of careful, prudent City of Toronto stewardship to separate and replace combined sewers across the city in order to prevent the discharge of raw sewage into Lake Ontario.

3. Effluent is a major risk to human health in terms of water quality at beaches, fishing.

4. Effluent affects the quality of the lake as an attraction for Canadian and international visitors.

5. The province has also not held any consultations about this work with the general public.

6. This proposal benefits private sector initiatives and is not in the public interest because it threatens the stability of the lake ecosystem at a time of severe biodiversity loss.

For these reasons, I ask you to please deny this permit.
