I am opposed to the proposal…

I am opposed to the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). Not only does this proposal go against decades of work by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to keep raw sewage out of Lake Ontario, it also flies in the face of international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the Great Lakes. Permitting literal crap to flow in the lake risks human health—even now we often can’t safely swim at Toronto beaches or fish in it. And pregnant women have to limit how much Lake Ontario fish they eat. Do you really think a polluted lake is an attraction for Canadian or international visitors to this spa you’ve rammed down our throats? After all, Ford has not held any consultations about this spa with the general public. I cry fowl!

Ontario Place was *our* land! It belongs to the citizens of Ontario! How dare you give it away to private sector initiatives! And to add insult to injury, you want to pollute our lake even more? Do you think this will increase your share of votes in the snap election just called? Think again! Please deny this permit that will undermine our environment and the health of our wildlife!
