I'm commenting on the proposed interim combined sewer to support development at Ontario Place's new Ford spa development. It goes against decades of hard work by the City to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent discharges of raw sewage into our beloved Lake Ontario. It goes without saying that it flaunts our international agreements to protect the water quality and habitat of the Great Lakes. The effluent is a risk to human health as well on the beaches, when fishing, and in its overall appeal to Canadian and international visitors. The province has also neglected to hold any public consultations about this work with the general public. This proposal is CLEARLY NOT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST, benefitting only private sector initiatives. It dangerously threatens the stability of the lake ecosystem which is under the responsibility of our stewardship as a city and province, at a time when we hear daily of the severe loss of biodiversity in this locality. I am opposed to the proposal. Please deny the permit!
