I am providing feedback on the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at Ontario Place (955 Lake Shore Boulevard). I strongly oppose this proposal, as it has been made without public consultation, and undermines decades of work by the City of Toronto to replace and separate combined sewers. This is critical to prevent raw sewage from flowing into Lake Ontario. This poses risks to health by impacting water quality at beaches, fishing, and the lake's appeal as a destination for Canadian and international visitors. It also contradicts international agreements aimed at protecting water quality and habitats in the Great Lakes. Prioritizing private sector interests jeopardizes the lake’s ecosystem, which is unacceptable at any time, but especially during a time of severe biodiversity loss. I urge you to deny this permit.
