The Federation Of North Toronto Residents Associations (FoNTRA) write in opposition to the Ontario Government’s combined sewer overflow work (CSO) at 955 Lakeshore Boulevard West (Ontario Place). It has the clear potential to spread polluted water, including sewer run off, into the West Channel around West Island at Ontario Place and the planned 'new beach'.
Combined overflow outlets run counter to long time and herculean efforts to clean up Lake Ontario. The discharge will pollute a heavily used part of the waterfront
We oppose this activity and will continue to recommend that our fellow residents oppose this also.
The proposal involves use of tax payer dollars being to facilitate development of public lands to pollute Lake Ontario in support of a foreign-owned company with a sweetheart deal to occupy one of the prime spots on public land on the Toronto waterfront. This proposal must not be approved.
