I do not support the proposal to construct an interim CSO at this location. Doing so will detrimentally impact the water quality along Toronto’s central and western public beaches and public water access points. The last thing we need at these beaches is poorer water quality than already exists as a result of effluent flowing from the Humber River. The City has worked for decades to remove CSOs and ensure sewage does not enter Lake Ontario untreated. It would be an abomination to approve this proposal, essentially giving a free pass to a private corporation to pollute the water body we rely on for drinking water, recreation, supporting aquatic ecosystems, and more. Please do not approve this backwards proposal that does nothing on behalf of Ontarians.
