Having worked in America, I have seen the results of private and poorly regulated advertising billboards beside highways, the worst was in Kentucky. These signs are distracting, ugly & show large corporate ads, or private ads that are abhorrently offensive and psychologically triggering.

Driving through Ontario lately reveals many empty billboards showing a contact phone number. Ontario is littered with abandoned signs, polluting local ecology and water with lead paint or toxic weather-beaten microplastic. The market is saying something, traditional signs don't translate to sales as well. Seems the internet, television or media is a better place? That said, should we further visually pollute Ontario with more advertising? I say no.

In Toronto, electronic signs may be distracting for drivers. As an experienced safety design and human factors engineering practitioner, some of these current regulations seem dangerously weak and reflect an uninformed democracy in Ontario. Are political leaders willing to take responsibility for deaths and disasters?

I would prefer that Ontario better regulate our current market before giving social license to expand this poorly thought-out and short-sighted industry. Ever wonder why Americans think Canada is beautiful? Go to Kentucky. Let me know what you think.

After you do, please consult with a recognised clinical psychology science body to see why this is a poor choice for all Ontario citizens and tourists that come here to enjoy Ontario.

Marketing on highways is a poor investment in Ontario, it can also be deadly.

Please, perform ethical due diligence, Thank you.
