While I understand the need to provide housing, improve transit etc, I can't help but feel that we will regret this fast track process as we pave over important historical and archeological sites and artifacts. So much of what we know of our history has been discovered while preparing sites for development. I suggest instead of getting rid of the process altogether you work to improve the efficiency of archeological digs and reviews, thereby speeding up the process rather than just getting rid of it completely. It sounds like you want to "throw the baby out with the bath water" when instead you should be working with the archeological companies to come up with ways to accomplish the goal of ensuring no development takes place without making sure that sites of historical significance are given the appropriate amount of review and fact finding.
