This an egregious amendment that violates Consultation with Indigenous communities. Consultation serves as a way to assert Aboriginal and Treaty rights over lands and resources within their Traditional Territory, recognize their section 35 rights (Constitution Act), the Duty to Consult, and their right to free, prior and informed consent regarding activities that occur both on and around their Traditional Territory. This allows the government to once again ignore their obligations and commitment to the TRC.
