I do not support 3rd party commercial advertising along Ontario's highways. Traveling at high speed requires 100% of drivers' attention. Any signage not part of the safe driving experience is an unwelcome distraction. Government regulates the identification of landmarks / locations of interest to travellers in a way that is predictable and unobtrusive. In addition - many people travel by car so they can experience the countryside. We all get bombarded by commercial messages 24/7 and going for a drive or day-trip is one of the few ways to get away from advertising and enjoy the natural world. I'm sure that there is a financial side to this conversation but Ontarians don't want to be overwhelmed by commercial interests - they want government to value quality of life instead of supporting business in every instance.
