I live in Haliburton County. The two provincial highways that cross the county pass through a lot of undeveloped land - trees, lakes, marshes, rocky outcrops. For much of the distance, there aren't even houses! That natural scenery is part of what attracts people - tourists, cottagers - to our area. A significant part of our economy is based on this natural environment. Billboards appearing around every turn do not belong. They detract from the pleasure of the views - winter, spring, summer and fall.... daytime and nighttime.
If the Ministry decides they must be placed beside highways, group them all within a short distance of major intersections... don't spoil scene after scene, mile after mile, kilometer after kilometer, with appeals to spend. Please! Let us be free of commercialism for a few minutes so we can contemplate an environment that isn't human-made. (excepting the paved road that allows access to our part of the province!)
