Billboards and excessive signage in rural areas destroy the natural landscape and are distracting to drivers. What is so wrong or difficult about keeping our roads in a state that fits with the environment? Why must everything be an opportunity for an ad?
In rural Ontario, our landscapes and environment are our most valuable resource. They are what draw tourists and new residents; blighting the environment with signs hurts our local economies. People do not want to visit and see the same level of commercial appeals they see in cities. The signs destroy part of what makes rural Ontario distinct - the quiet and natural surroundings.
